About Us

Built by two brothers. Powered by one stubborn cat.

Meows started in a kitchen in 2021 — with a vet bill, a bag of "premium" kibble that wasn't, and a tabby named Pickle who refused to give up.

Meet Oliver & Jamie Hudson

We're two brothers from a household that always had at least one cat underfoot. Oliver, the older one, spent a decade in food science before this. Jamie worked at an animal rescue through college and never quite left the world of fur and paws behind.

We built Meows the way we'd want a friend to build it for us — honestly, carefully, and with the cats we love in mind first.

— Oliver & Jamie, Co-founders

Chapter 01 — It started with a cat who almost didn't make it.

In early 2020, Oliver adopted a scruffy senior tabby from a shelter outside Boston. His name was Pickle. Fourteen years old, a coat like steel wool, three teeth left, and the kind of slow, careful walk that made the shelter staff doubt anyone would take him home.

Six months in, Pickle started declining fast. Constant hairballs. Patchy shedding. He'd stopped jumping onto the couch. The vet ran bloodwork and used words no cat parent wants to hear: early kidney decline, low taurine, chronic inflammation. The recommendation was to "keep him comfortable."

Oliver called Jamie that night. We weren't ready to give up on Pickle. So we started reading. Then we couldn't stop.

"The more we dug into feline nutrition, the more we realized — Pickle wasn't sick because he was old. He was old because he'd been quietly missing what cats actually need, his entire life."

Chapter 02 — What we found broke our hearts.

Cats are obligate carnivores. In the wild, they eat whole prey — organs, marrow, connective tissue, gut contents. They get taurine from heart muscle, glucosamine from cartilage, omega-3s from brain tissue, antioxidants and probiotics from everything in between.

Modern indoor cats eat processed kibble and pouches. Most of it is built around plant fillers, synthetic vitamins, and the bare legal minimums. Even "premium" brands we'd been feeding our cats for years were missing critical nutrients — or had them in forms a cat's body couldn't actually absorb.

Jamie reached out to a feline nutritionist she'd worked with at the rescue. Oliver tracked down a veterinary formulation chemist through his food science network. We spent the next eighteen months in spreadsheets, on calls, in our kitchens, mixing and testing.

Chapter 03 — And then Pickle jumped on the counter.

About four months into feeding Pickle the early formula, Oliver came home to find him on the kitchen counter — a place he hadn't been in over a year — trying to get into the bread bag. His coat had filled back in. His eyes were brighter. His vet markers, when we ran them again, had moved in the right direction across the board.

Pickle gave us another three good years. Not just alive — actively, genuinely good. Curious. Playful. A pain about the bread bag, specifically.

We knew we couldn't keep this to ourselves.

What We Promise

We made the supplement we wished existed when Pickle got sick.

01 — Formulated with vets, not marketers. Every ingredient and every dose is signed off by licensed veterinarians and feline nutritionists. No "proprietary blends" hiding pixie dust. We publish every milligram.

02 — Clinically meaningful doses. Trace amounts don't help your cat. We use the doses the research actually supports — even when it costs us more per bag to do it.

03 — No fillers. Ever. No grain, no corn, no artificial colors, no mystery flavoring. If we wouldn't feed it to our own cats, it doesn't go in the bag. That rule is non-negotiable.

04 — Made for picky eaters. Pickle was the pickiest cat we've ever met. If a formula didn't pass the Pickle test, we threw it out and started over. The final blend is one most cats accept on the first bowl.

05 — 90-day promise. If you don't see a difference in your cat within 90 days, we refund every cent. You can even keep the bag. We can afford to make that promise because we know what's inside it.

06 — Cat parents first. Real people answer our emails. Usually one of us. Write in about your cat — we genuinely love hearing about them.

The Short Version

2020 — Oliver adopts Pickle. Six months later, the diagnosis that started everything.

2021 — Eighteen months of formulation with vets, nutritionists, and a lot of cat-shaped taste-testers.

2022 — Meows ships to its first 100 cat families. Almost all of them re-order.

Today — 12,400+ cat families and counting. Pickle is, regrettably, still after the bread bag.

If you have a cat you love, we built this for you.

One scoop a day. 90-day promise. Same formula we feed our own cats. That's it.
